Stade Rennais F.C. 1984 - 85 Retro Football Shirt
Stade Rennes underwent a yo-yo existence between the top two divisions of the French League in the early '80s. Ligue 2 champions in 1983 but relegated from Ligue 1 the following season, Pierre Mosca’s side kicked off the 1984-85 season aiming to secure a return to the top flight.
A strong campaign saw the club qualify for the end of season play-offs. Saint-Etienne and Mulhouse were both defeated to set up the final hurdle of a two-legged match against Ligue 1’s Rouen. Both sides won their home games 1-0 meaning a penalty shoot-out decider. After Rennes keeper Pierrick Hiard had saved a couple of efforts, Alain Doare stepped up to score the decisive kick at 7-6 and put Les Rennais back in the top flight.
